Pip, an orphan raised in a rural marsh village in England, is suddenly bestowed with an inheretance from a secret benefactor.  Pip's expectations thrust him into a wide world of intrigue that includes some of literature's most unforgettable characters.  Pip must reconcile his ambitions with the home he leaves behind to attain them.
